By Middle Yard is The One O'clock Gun standing. The One O'clock Gun is being fired every day at 1.00 pm, except from sundays. The sailers could adjust their watches correctly because of The One O'clock Gun - but that was way back in time! It is a nice "tradition" in Edinburgh.
